Chapter One WHen It All Started
When Kelly was born she was really small, but thankfully from the help of the doctors she grew up perfectly fine. When she was old enough she got her own pony. They had many great times together.
Sadly, those times had to end.
Chapter Two The Earthquake
All the happy moments ended in The Earthquake.
All the horses neighed and kicked in the sables as the ground shock like crazy.
“Don’t worry Lemon! I'm coming!” Kelly said as she ran to the stable.
But Claire held her back.
“No Kelly. Its too late.” She said as she took her back to safety.
Days later people found a horse and her foal that survived the earthquake.
“Its a miracle! A mother and her foal survived!”
Chapter Three Moving Elsewhere.
Kelly had to move in with her uncle Herman after she lost her parents and her pony in The Earthquake. She hardly knew her uncle. Kelly was also a pretty popular rider and thats just what her uncle needed.
Chapter Four There Might Be Hope
A few months later Kelly had been training another horse named Rain. She was due to start a big race soon.
“Another race eh boy? Well lets get it over with then.”
3...2...1… GO!
The sound of the gun banged loud in the air. The horses all raced off at full speed. The sound of the hooves clopped against the yellow sand. Kelly and Rain were on a roll until suddenly Rain got his hoof stuck in a hole. They struggled to get out so Kelly had to stop the race. A vet came and drove them back to the stables.
“How bad is it?” Asked her uncle.
“Its not to bad but it will take a few months to heal.” Answered the vet.
“We don’t have the money to wait for it to heal. We will have to sell him to a farmer for LOTS of money.”
And with that both the vet and uncle Herman left the stable.
Chapter Five Saying Goodbye.
Kelly stood in front of rain not saying a word. Her two friends named Lisa and Lilly came up to her.
“Did you hear that?” Lilly asked.
“You can’t let him do this!” Exclaimed Lisa
“We have to stop him!” They both shouted.
“Kelly? Hello? Kelly?” Lilly said curiously.
“I don’t care as it doesn't trouble me.” Kelly said bluntly as she walked outside of the stall. Her friends looked at each other with worried faces.
Chapter Six The Newspaper.
Meanwhile Kelly stood in her room speechless holding a piece of newspaper in her hand.
The piece of paper had a picture of a brown horse with a white mane on it. The paper said.
“3 year old Arabian horse for sale!” Kelly stood there lost in her thoughts.
Chapter Seven Should I?
There Kelly was debating with herself whether or not she was going to buy the horse or not. She finally said.
“Why not just ask uncle Herman if I can? Can’t get a better offer right?”
She walked down the stairs and asked her uncle if she could get the horse as she held out the piece of newspaper in front of her.
“Hmm.” Answered her uncle…
Chapter Eight The Decision
The sound of a truck interrupted his thoughts.
“Oh! That must be the farmer coming to buy rain!”
Kelly sighed as she put the piece of paper away.
“I don’t know if that was a yes or a no but I have a feeling this isn't going to end well.” She said to herself.
Chapter Nine All Happy.
Kelly watched out the window as the farmer drove away with Rain.
Herman came back in with a smile on his face.
“Now that Rain is gone and we have A LOT of money we can buy that horse you wanted!”
Uncle Herman announced.
Kelly’s face lit up as she beamed with joy.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
She shouted as she ran to get into her riding clothes.
Once she was finished they drove out with their trailer to pick up their new Arabian.
They soon arrived at the farm and instantly Kelly saw the farmer standing with the beautiful mare in front of them. They hopped out and Kelly ran to the horse.
“ Aren't you a beauty.” She said as she held her hand out to the horse.
“There's something very special about this horse.” Said the farmer. “She was the foal that survived The Earthquake."
He said proudly.
Herman smiled at him as Kelly led her new horse into the trailer.
"I think I'll name you Miracle." She beamed
They were finally ready to head home. They said goodbye to the farmer and drove back up to their house.
Kelly stayed quiet as she was thinking of the fun times she was going to have with Miracle just as she had with Lemon and Rain.
Once they arrived Kelly led Miracle into her new paddock. At the end of that day everyone was happy.
Kelly was happy with Miracle.
Herman was excited with his new horse Miracle.
Kelly's friends were proud of her because she was happy again.
The farmer was pleased with his new horse Rain.
Miracle was joyful with her new home.
The other farmer was delighted that someone brought his horse.
And of course Kelly's parents and Lemon were happy in heaven because they were proud of her and how she was getting on.The End
Well done, Lara. You have written a great story, which kept me reading to find out what happened next. You have organised the events well, using chapters, and there is no confusion around the characters speaking because you have used correct punctuation and started each new speaker on a new line. Draw pictures to go with the parts of the story, and print it out as a book for Room 4 students to read.
