Waitangi Day

Waitangi Day is the day when NZ became a nation. It is also a national holiday for New Zealanders.
The Treaty was signed on the 6th of February, 1840.
It was signed in Waitangi in the Bay of Islands. 500 Maori chiefs  and the representatives of the Queen signed the treaty. The Queens representatives agreed that the Maori  would continue to own the lands forests and oceans and Maori agreed that the Queen set up the rules for the country and the government.
On Waitangi Day this year, I went shopping with my mum and dad. We brought some clothes for my mum and dad and littlest pet shops for me and, for a treat, I got an ice cream. It was the best ice cream I had ever tasted!!!!!!
