In the holidays my brother was looking after me for Monday and Tuesday. so we went out somewhere. He asked me where I wanted to go so I replied in my usual answer “I don’t know,” so he asked me if I wanted to go rock climbing in a place called Climbing Edge. I said, “Sure why not,” so we hopped into his car and drove all the way there.
When we got there I was excited and scared at the same time. We walked inside and the heat changed from a cold and windy breeze to a warm and cozy summer air.
A friendly lady was there to greet us at the front desk. We paid first and I wrote my name and age on a small clipboard. Then the lady put a tightly firmed harness around my waist. She told us the instructions on what to do when we want to clip onto the climbing walls and then she pointed to the kids rock climbing area to the left. I got so excited I could hardly wait!
We walked over to the colourfully themed rock climbing walls and saw a lot of joyful kids with their family and friends. I walked around looking for a spare and fairly easy wall.
I found one soon enough and my brother helped me with clipping on. When he was done I started climbing up. I was kind of scared and the rock climbing wall was slippery but I knew I would be safe.
When I reached the top I looked down at my brother and smiled. He smiled back at me and said, “Good on you,” as I swung down from the green and orange wall.
When I got down my brother said, “If you can get up to the top of two more, I will buy you some treats from the front desk.”I nodded my head and unclipped myself from the wall.
We walked around for a while looking for another wall and sure enough I finally found one.
It was bright and colourful and it was themed on kites. It looked a bit harder than the last one but I felt confident enough to try it.
I clipped myself on and started climbing up the wall. I was almost at the top so I looked down. My brother was looking up at me from the floor so I smiled at him confidently and continued climbing up. I made it to the top and looked down. I was so high up, I got chills in my back. As I swung to the floor, My brother said to me, “Good job. Just one more wall until you can get a treat.” I smiled and looked around for another wall and surprisingly the girl on the wall just beside me was just about to get off so I stood behind her and waited.
The wall was themed on a volcano it looked hard and quite scary but I had the confidence to climb it.
Finally it was my turn so I clipped on and started to climb. It took about a minute to get up to the top and I felt pretty proud of myself when I did get up so I looked around at all the walls and all the kids that were climbing. I was amazed at how high I was.
When I was finished looking around I swung down from the top. My brother clapped as I unclipped myself from the wall. I did a few extra walls for fun but when I was finished we walked out of the kids climbing area.
